Black Hole Spin and Stellar Flyby Periastron Shift

چکیده

For a scenario of close flyby compact star near spinning black hole, we provide analytical and numerical estimates for the shift trajectory periastron due to relativistic (beyond post-Newtonian) effects. More specifically, derived generalized expression (not limited quasi-circular or elliptical orbits) directly linking spin hole. The permits estimation hole based on astronomical tracking locations stars traveling along highly eccentric (parabolic hyperbolic) trajectories in vicinity We also demonstrate how hyperbolic parabolic may be (temporarily) captured onto orbits around holes, quantitatively examine conditions such scenarios.

Periastron advance in black-hole binaries.

The general relativistic (Mercury-type) periastron advance is calculated here for the first time with exquisite precision in full general relativity. We use accurate numerical relativity simulations of spinless black-hole binaries with mass ratios 1/8≤m(1)/m(2)≤1 and compare with the predictions of several analytic approximation schemes. We find the effective-one-body model to be remarkably acc...

Black Hole Spin Evolution

We consider a subset of the physical processes that determine the spin j ≡ a/M of astrophysical black holes. These include: (1) Initial conditions. Recent models suggest that the collapse of supermassive stars are likely to produce black holes with j ∼ 0.7. (2) Major mergers. The outcome of a nearly equal mass black hole-black hole merger is not yet known, but we review the current best guesses...

Stellar-mass Black Hole Spin Constraints from Disk Reflection and Continuum Modeling

Accretion disk reflection spectra, including broad iron emission lines, bear the imprints of the strong Doppler shifts and gravitational red-shifts close to black holes. The extremity of these shifts depends on the proximity of the innermost stable circular orbit to the black hole, and that orbit is determined by the black hole spin parameter. Modeling relativistic spectral features, then, give...

Black-hole Spin and Galactic Morphology

We investigate the conjecture by Sikora, Stawarz & Lasota (2007) that the observed AGN–radioloudness bimodality can be explained by the morphology related bimodality of black-hole spin distribution in the centers of galaxies: central black holes in giant elliptical galaxies may have (on average) much larger spins than black holes in spiral/disc galaxies. We study how accretion from a warped dis...

Erratum: "Precise Measurement of the Spin Parameter of the Stellar-Mass Black hole

In prior work, Chandra and Gemini-North observations of the eclipsing X-ray binary M33 X-7 have yielded measurements of the mass of its black hole primary and the system’s orbital inclination angle of unprecedented accuracy. Likewise, the distance to the binary is known to a few percent. In an analysis based on these precise results, 15 Chandra and XMM-Newton X-ray spectra, and our fully relati...
